A courageous character in this story is Doss. Doss is a responsible and resilient leader, he knows what to do and when to do it, and he knows how to put people before himself. He is faithful to his religion even when it was one of the main reasons why he was frowned upon, and got him beaten by the other soldiers. And even when he was thanked by his companions for his duties he wasn’t arrogant or conceited, instead he carried on with his work leading from behind

Tuakiri Collage

In our class, we have been working on creating collages that represent our connection to our marae. Through turangawaewae, taongatukuiho, and tuakiri, we have learnt about our connection to our marae in our lives. My marae, Otiiria, located in Moerewa  . The opportunity to express these connections through our maoritanga has been truly meaningful. As a year 9 student, I have found this project to be a valuable exploration of my cultural roots.

Indonesia

Indonesia and New Zealand are two very different countries with unique cultures. In Indonesia the food is often spicy and flavorful while in New Zealand the cuisine is more influenced by British and Maori traditions. The languages spoken in Indonesia are primarily Bahasa Indonesia while in New Zealand English and Maori are the official languages. Additionally the traditional clothing in Indonesia such as batik and sarongs is quite different from the more westernized fashion in New Zealand. Overall the differences between Indonesia and New Zealand can be seen in their food language and clothing reflecting the diverse cultures of each country.
Here are some differences.

Join us as we celebrate not only the athletic achievements but also the cultural stories that are gonna be this year’s Olympics, truly unforgettable! Check out our collage in the bottom of my text I did New Zealand for my country.

Mowgli

The Mowgli movie is a heartwarming tale that truly captures the bond between family members, regardless of species. The story of a young boy abandoned in the forest and raised by a pack of wolves, a black panther, and a bear is both captivating and moving. The film beautifully portrays the beauty of nature and the importance of love and friendship. The characters are lovable and relatable, each bringing their own unique charm to the story. Watching Mowgli’s journey as he navigates the jungle and discovers his true self is a truly inspirational experience. Overall, The Mowgli movie is a must-watch for anyone looking for a heartwarming and meaningful adventure.

Surf lessons

On the 28 of Nov the seniors went to sandy beach and had some surfing lessons. When we arrived we saw the surfing instructors getting all the bored’s and wet suits ready . We stopped and started to abored the bus also spiting into our two groups. one group was My class and a few other kids and the other group was room 5 & 6.  The first group was my class, we had a briefing and a practise before we went to the water. once we finished we walked down to the water and waited for some big waves. When the big waves arrived i slowly began to stand on my bored there were a few crashes that happened but eventually with some practice I stood up for a solid 8 seconds for a total of 6 11 times. When it was time to swap groups we got changed and I was so happy that I just accomplished that. While the other group surfed we had lunch and played around. We even played soft ball with big stick a little round piece of wood and our crocs. When ever one had tided up sang a waiata and thanked the instructors and made our way back to school.

Te Mana Kura Tahi

On the 30th of october we stood on the Te Mana Kuratahi. There were alot emotions going on but I was mostly excited with determination to come top 10 in the placings. We walked to the beach to have a karakia in the water. It was such a cool and chill memorie. After that we had finished that kaupapa the girls and the boys split up into our own little stations to get ready for the stage. The girls went to the tutors room and the boys went to the hall. There were alot of people that were there to help get ass ready. When we finished, Qwayd brought everyone some sushi after we finished getting ready. A few moments later we had eaten and we were on our way to the atamira. When we arrived we had to wait in our waiting room. Well we were in there. We put on the girls piupiu and made some corrections to our kakahu. Then suddenly we got a call to come to the back of the stage. We were so pumped and ready for the stage and all emotions were high. When we finished we made our way outside when we saw our whanau and our supporters waiting for us outside. We took some photos, got changed and ran back to watch the last groups of the day. They were so amazing and so were we. After that louded up our bus and made our way back to our reservation in Mapua.
